These previously unseen photographs have been published almost a decade after the execution of four women in Wuhan, central China. The women, seen here is these photographs, were on death row for drug smuggling and were executed on 24 June, 2003. The authorities banned the photographs in fear that it would evoke sympathy for China’s female prisoners.
