MEET THE TEAM - CARMEN PAN, SR. ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE
RPGA: How long have you been working in PR?
Carmen: All together… about 3 years. 1 year at a PR agency and 2 years in-house.
RPGA: What has been your favourite PR experience?
Carmen: I have so many valuable memories in my PR repertoire - overseas roadshows, public events, corporate website launches, foundation establishment, etc. One of my favourite PR experiences was a disease education campaign in Hong Kong, which was aimed at helping patients with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) receive subsidy from a pharmaceutical company and enhance public awareness for this disease. I came up with a comprehensive PR plan and was responsible for the implementation throughout the project. It was incredibly rewarding, with our help and awareness programme, an eight year old boy with JIA successfully received the subsidies after his parents read about the project in the papers. When I went to interview this family, the patient’s mother and the little boy expressed their appreciation, they were so grateful that their child who had suffered from the disease for many years could have the opportunity to recover. That was the first time I felt extremely proud of being a PR practitioner who could deliver useful information to people and change their lives through media.
RPGA: What has been your worst PR experience?
Carmen: Err…I’ve been pretty lucky so far! Nothing BAD has happened but of course there is the daily pressure that we all feel! Stressing over media coverage after a press conference… We’ve all been there.
RPGA: 3 words to describe yourself
Carmen: Traveller, pseudo-artist, dreamer :P
RPGA: What was the last film that you saw? Last book you read?
Carmen: Malèna (An old Italian movie). 1Q84 (A Japanese fiction)
RPGA: If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?
Carmen: Dolphin, a lovely and kind-hearted animal with a free spirit
RPGA: Where is your favourite place in the world
Carmen: Well, it is hard to say because there are lots of places I have never been. I love my hometown, Hong Kong. But I recently travelled to Kyoto in Japan and really loved it - that was a highlight!
